Dear Dance Families,

Our dance recital is just around the corner, so I wanted to make you aware of a few things. 

Our dance rehearsal and recital are at the Lake Mills High School Auditorium. Please enter using the auditorium doors. 

Our Dance rehearsal is on Saturday, April 25. Our recitals are on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

• Pre-Ballet classes will be in only one recital. The Tuesday morning class will be in the early recital at noon. The Monday afternoon classes will be in the later recital at 4pm.

• All other classes will be in both recitals (noon and 4pm). 

• See below for more information on rehearsal and recital times.

Pictures - Sunday, April 19

• This year, Ms. Leah and Ms. Tessa will be taking pictures a week prior to the recital. This is a great opportunity to practice hair and makeup, but attending this picture day is not required.

• Individual and class pictures will take place at RLAC on Sunday, April 19. Pictures will begin at 2pm with each class having an assigned time. 

• We will send times for each class along with order forms out closer to the date.

Dress Rehearsal - Saturday, April 25

• The backstage area will open at 4:00pm.

• All dancers must be backstage by 4:20pm.

• We plan on starting the rehearsal at 4:30pm. 

• A parent or guardian must stay in the audience during the rehearsal. We will have helpers backstage for each class.

• During the rehearsal, we will run each dance once, giving the instructors time to give feedback to the dancers after each dance. Once the Pre-Ballet classes have finished, a parent can come backstage to get their dancer.

• We will then run through the recital a second time with no stopping. This gives the older dancers a second chance to practice and those having costume changes an idea of how long they have to change. A parent can come backstage to get their dancers when they are finished with their last dance.

Recital - Sunday, April 26

• For the noon recital, the backstage area will open at 11:15am, and dancers must be backstage and in makeup at 11:30am. Parents must leave the backstage area by 11:35am.

• For the 4pm recital, the backstage area will be open at 3:15pm, and dancers must be backstage and in makeup by 3:30pm. Parents must leave the backstage area by 3:35pm. 

• At this time, we expect each recital to last about 1-1.5 hours. This will allow time for dancers in both recitals to leave, get something to eat, and return for the second recital. They can leave their costumes and shoes in the backstage area or take them with them. 

• Doors will open for spectators to enter the auditorium a half an hour before each show. 

Tickets:

• Closer to the recital date, your child will get a  copy of this letter along with 2 tickets to the show(s) they are in.

• Additional tickets are $5 per ticket.

• • Anyone sitting in their own seat needs a ticket. Children 3 and under are free.

  • Additional tickets can be purchased in the RLAC office or at the door on the day of the recital. 

  • Ticket sales cover the price of the auditorium rental for the rehearsal and recital.

• Please limit the number of guests you bring to 10 guests per family per recital.

Hair

• Instructors will let you know how the dancers should wear their hair. Please ask them if you have any questions.

Makeup

• It is strongly encouraged that all dancers wear makeup to avoid looking flushed out by the stage lights. Instructors will give instructions for the recommended makeup application.

Other Information

• It may be helpful (especially for younger dancers) to wear a robe or large button up shirt over their costume while waiting backstage.
